PRINCIPLE OF THE OBJECTIVE
Every business activity
should be related to a specific,
beneficial objective.
Most
businesses start out with a good idea. But then they grew and become complex.
Sometimes, too complex for the manager or his staff to keep in mind the
essential goals of the business.
But failure
to establish a specific objective for each activity, or failure to keep working
only to key objectives, dissipates the resources of a business and the energies
of the staff.
It is not wrong
to change an objective. In fact, you should if you see that the one you have can
not be achieved, or you find another with greater rewards. And you can always
add to or expand your objectives. This is a sign of growth.
But the
objectives of a business, and each activity in the business, must be known and
specifically stated. Further, the manager must constantly remind the staff of
the objectives. And the manager must constantly review all work activities to
make certain they are related to the objectives of the business.
