THE PURPOSE OF ORGANIZING
Having planned a particular course of action deigned to achieve a business objective, or to solve a business problem, the manager must
organize the work so that the staff will perform the work with maximum efficiency.
Organizing does not produce any actual physical accomplishment; but it sets the stage for the activity to take place.
The primary basis for organizing is the WORK to be done. The necessary work activities as set forth by the plan, constitute the foundation for organizing.
The PEOPLE who will do the work constitute the second organizational element. The work to be done should be considered in relation to the abilities of the people available to perform these activities. One of the purposes of organizing is to determine the proper relationship between the work to be done and the people who will do the work.
The final element which must be considered in organizing is the WORK PLACE. This refers not only to the place where the work will be
done but also to all the physical factors which are necessary to the performance of the work.
