BENEFITS OF CONTROL
Control is necessary to be certain that the organization gains its
objectives. But let's look at the benefits in terms of specifics:
1. Control helps future planning. Since records of performance are
part of controlling you have "yardsticks" to guide your future
planning of work activities. You also know the probable variations in
performance you can expect.
2.
Control helps organization.
You now have more facts. You know where and when problems occur. Hopefully, you
solved them and in future organizing can avoid them.
3. Control helps to motivate your people. Everyone has a
standard of performance as part of the control. This means each employee knows
what is expected of him. (Usually, he should have a hand in setting the
standards and the goals.) He knows they are realistic and he is committed to
achieve them. The standards, then, are a self-motivating factor for most people
we
like to "beat the record".
