WHAT IS LEADERSHIP


Leadership Is difficult to define because It Is intangible.

Furthermore, actions which represent leadership in one situation may not achieve leadership in another. Its application may vary with time, place, and circumstance. The following is a common definition:

Leadership -is that human quality which
leads people willingly and cooperatively toward
the accomplishment of a definite goal.


A manager should recognize:

1. Leadership is a human factor. It is personal and dynamic. Machines and money do not provide leadership, though they may be instruments of management. Leadership is an interrelationship between people.

2. Leadership motivates. It secures the active and willing cooperation of people. On some occasions those actions . are even considered to be super-human.

3. Leadership achieves goals. It does not wander aimlessly.

It carries people to definitive objectives. The leader always accepts responsibility for all of the group's decisions and actions.
